International Childrenˈs Festival

For the past 40 years, the International Children's festival has undoubtedly represented a special quality of Croatian culture and has become a sort of trademark of Šibenik. It is a worldwide unique and recognised Croatian cultural event. The festival was held 1958 for the first time, at the initiative and engagement of a handful of children's art enthusiasts, but soon it turned into a great and complex festival of international significance. Based on three inseparable components: children, festival events and the town of Šibenik, this multimedia cultural event is a kind of review of the highest accomplishments in art created for and by children.


During the days the festival is held, Šibenik is a place of exciting encounters of poets and children, and it features an outdoor cinema auditorium on the ancient stairs, as well as classes in journalism, sculpting, comics, film and video, architecture and construction, poetry, painting, design, IT design, puppetry, music and dance. In the numerous artistic and creative forms, here one can encounter, in the town streets and squares, the entire world, representatives of cultures from all continents, who have been giving their creative contribution to the development of a nobler, culturally aware humanity of today's global community for years.
